PLAYER ARCHETYPES
Position tells you where a player starts. PTN maps how they influence the game by converting official NRL outputs into positional percentiles across creation, evasiveness, work rate, finishing, carry impact and defence.
A 90th-percentile carry score for a prop means something different from a 90th-percentile carry score for a fullback. PTN standardises each dimension against positional peers first.
Every dimension is converted to a percentile against positional peers before role-specific weights are applied. A rating around 50 is roughly positional median, while 80+ indicates elite current-season output in that role.
Creation and control
Try assists, line-break assists, kicking load, attacking kicks, short dropouts and receipt involvement.
Breaking the defensive line
Tackle breaks, line breaks, run metres and kick-return value capture disruption with the ball.
Repeated involvement
Running volume, tackle load and receipts identify players who keep appearing in the contest.
Role-aware composite
Position-specific weights combine the six percentiles into one current-season rating, with a positional median around 50.
